Who is ATOWN the designer?
I am a designer that has an open mind and open heart. I love to create. There is no better feeling than making something from nothing.

Were you always into design?
Design has always been a passion of mine. As a kid, I was really into drawing and sketching and always had a knack for being stylish. My family referred to me as Joe Cool.

How did you get started professionally?
My first creative/business endeavor as a professional designer began when I started my own freelance design business, ATOWN DESIGNS. I knew I had to gain experience in order to gain credibility and the saying, “fake it till you make it,” never applied so much.

Have you worked for a company other than ATOWN DESIGNS?
ATOWN DESIGNS has opened up so many exciting opportunities for me. In the summer of 2014, I went on a birthright trip to Israel. My group leader knew I was a web and graphic designer and told me about an open design position at the non-profit she works for that also helped sponsor the trip. The timing was perfect. I was looking to expand my design skills and be a part of a team and realized that this new opportunity was something I couldn’t pass up.

What can you do as a designer?
Ad Campaigns, Basecamp, Blue State Digital, Branding and Identity, Communication, Copy Editing, Copywriting, FedWeb, Graphic Design, Illustrator, InDesign, Luminate, MailChimp, Photoshop, Responsive Web Design, Search Engine Optimization, Typography, User Interface Design, Video Editing, Web Design, WordPress, XHTML and CSS

Who is ATOWN the artist?
I am an artist with integrity that truly loves listening, experiencing and making music.

Were you always into music?
Music has always been a huge part of my life. I literally can’t go one day without listening to music.

Why is your music part of your design portfolio?
I don’t want someone to get the wrong idea. This is not at all about self-promoting my music. I simply want people to know that I understand the music just as much as I understand the design.

I’ve been through a lot as an artist and I took my time to learn as much as I can about the music industry. I’ve set up my own photoshoots, shot my own music videos, created a brand and made music I was proud of. I realized that an artist needs to understand how important design is for a successful music career and my experience can help facilitate that success.

If someone offered you your ideal opportunity in music and design, what would it be?
My ideal opportunity would be to work in the music industry as a web and graphic designer. I would work with the most amazing artists/industry professionals, creating designs for albums, advertising and web.

What is your experience as an artist?
Freestyling, Performing, Photo Shoots, Radio Interviews, Recording, Songwriting, Video Creation, Video Editing, Video Interviews, Video Shoots
